New course dates announced for BASIS (FSTA), FACTS & NMP training

We are pleased to advise that due to a high demand for accreditation within the turfgrass industry, STRI will be running two separate courses for the BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection (Amenity Horticulture) in 2016.


The Qualifications



The BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection for Field Sales and Technical Staff (FSTS) provides training and certification for sellers of pesticides and those giving advice on their use, including:

  • Contractors who sell or give advice
  • Distributors who sell or give advice
  • Pesticide manufacturers and suppliers
  • Consultants, agents, managers, specifiers and local authority managers who are involved in pesticide sales or advice.



Consists of nine full day’s training, which is completed over two separate weeks. An online learning support package will be made available to all students. Examinations are held over two days at STRI’s head office & research facility in West Yorkshire.

The FACTS Turf Certification and Training Scheme is an independent, non-statutory certification scheme for advisers in plant nutrient management.

Course Date

Duration: Four day course plus one day examination:

  • 15 – 17 Nov 2016 & 30 Nov 2016
  • Exam: 01 Dec 2016



Nutrient Management Planning (NMP)

The NMP course has been designed for FACTS (Turf) Qualified Advisors to update expertise on fertiliser issues and legislation. The NMP training is compulsory for current FACTS Qualified Advisers and those gaining the qualification.

Duration: Three day course including 2 ½ hour examination
