A hugely successful RHS Chelsea Flower Show was enjoyed by companies using Rolawn products, Rolawn’s Medallion® turf, Blended Loam topsoil, Landscaping Bark, and Soil Improver – or a mixture of all four at this year’s event. Rolawn helped 20 exhibitors achieve show accreditation including one silver award, four silver-gilt and seven gold awards.
Scooping the top prize for ‘Best in Show’ was Chris Beardshaw’s garden for The NSPCC, who once again used Rolawn. ‘Best Construction’ went to the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ garden depicting a slice of rural Yorkshire Life complete with a stone bothy and stream. Chris Beardshaw and Welcome to Yorkshire benefitted from ‘Britain’s Finest Turf’ Rolawn Medallion® and Blended Loam topsoil. The Welcome to Yorkshire garden also proved popular with television viewers and visitors alike claiming the BBC/RHS People’s Choice Award.
Mark Gregory’s headline-grabbing ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ garden was inspired by the stunning Yorkshire Dales. Mark chose to use 60 square metres of Rolawn’s Medallion due to its ability to establish quickly and provide a high quality and wear resistant carpet of home-grown turf to complement the truly Yorkshire scene.
Birmingham City Council’s topical, Empire Windrush Garden, created by TV presenter and campaigner, Baroness Floella Benjamin also scooped gold in the show with a floral depiction of the sailing vessel that brought a generation of Caribbean migrants to the UK post World War Two. The Windrush Garden benefitted from Rolawn topsoil.
Rolawn products also enhanced the gold winning entries once again for Bloms Bulbs, Hillier, Peter Beales Roses and Blackmore & Langdon.
Jonathan Hill, Sales and Marketing Director of Rolawn comments: “This has been an outstanding year for Rolawn at RHS Chelsea and it’s a thrill that so many of the industry’s finest incorporated our products into their designs, helping to make the floral displays and gardens truly wonderful. The passion, knowledge and innovation which goes into our products is the reason so many of the horticultural elite turn to Rolawn not just when prizes are up for grabs but as part of their routine throughout the year.”
