We had a fantastic day at Port Vale F.C. taking part in the Great Science Share alongside the Port Vale Foundation team.

Meeting pupils from ten local schools, we were there to bring science to life, sharing how science is used in careers across sport and engineering, with a particular focus on the sports facilities we are delivering at the Vale Park Community Campus. We took along some tools of the trade to give the pupils a hands-on opportunity to understand what goes into delivering sports surfaces…and it was lots more then they imagined! Events like this play an important role in encouraging the next generation to explore STEM subjects and discover the opportunities they can lead to.

The event also provided us with the opportunity to talk to the pupils about Port Vale Community Campus and the fantastic facilities that we are working on. Port Vale Football Club, Port Vale Foundation, and Stoke-on-Trent City Council secured £2.3 million in Government funding to transform Sproson Park and surrounding areas into a dynamic, multi-purpose community campus and we’re delighted to be leading the design and build. Helping to engage young people in what’s coming is an important part of ensuring that the campus is well used and well looked after.

Instilling a sense of pride and ownership throughout the local community is something we’re working hard on alongside the fabulous club and foundation teams.
