All courses are taught by Dr Christian Spring, Principal Scientist for the Group, with an eight-hectare research facility, you can get hands-on practice experience.

 

BASIS Foundation in Amenity Horticulture

Course dates: 23th–25th November 2026
Online exam: 30th November 2026
Cost: £1,175 + VAT (includes exam fee)

The BASIS Foundation in Amenity Horticulture course is designed for those new to the industry or those looking to build a solid technical foundation. It introduces plant biology, soils, turfgrass science, pest and disease management, and the principles of crop protection in amenity settings. There really is no better way to become fully immersed in turf.

 

FACTS (Fertiliser Advisers Certification and Training Scheme)

Face-to-face teaching: 20th–23th October 2026
Online written exams and vivas: 10th–11th December 2026

Cost: £2,285 +VAT (includes exam fee)

 

The FACTS qualification is essential for anyone advising on fertiliser use, nutrient management and environmental stewardship. The course covers soil fertility, nutrient planning, legislation and environmental protection, equipping attendees with the knowledge required to deliver sustainable and compliant fertiliser advice.

It’s also opportunity to network, learn from others and expand your professional network.

 

BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection in Amenity Horticulture

Week 1 teaching: 5th–9th October 2026
Week 2 teaching: 2th–5th November 2026
Online written exam: 7th December 2026
ID exam with live samples (Bingley): 8th December 2026 (afternoon)
Viva (Bingley): 9th December 2026

Cost: £3,115 +VAT (includes exam fee)

 

The BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection in Amenity Horticulture is a comprehensive qualification for professionals responsible for pesticide use and turf management. The course combines in-depth teaching with assessments designed to test practical and theoretical knowledge, ensuring candidates are confident and competent in best practice crop protection.
