The BIM Coordinator will support the Senior Designer and project Design Leads, taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination, management and quality of BIM information across assigned projects. The role will work closely with STRI’s designers, engineers and technicians, as well as architects, civil, structural and MEP consultants within multidisciplinary project teams. 

This is a hands-on BIM role, and the successful candidate will also be expected to undertake Revit technician and production duties where project workload allows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  1. Coordinate BIM delivery across assigned projects in accordance with project requirements, STRI standards and ISO 19650 principles. 
  2. Coordinate STRI models with architectural, structural, civil, MEP and other consultant models. 
  3. Undertake model reviews, clash detection, model federation and multidisciplinary coordination. 
  4. Manage project model setup, coordinates, links, work sets, model health and information exchanges. 
  5. Support the implementation of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), information requirements and agreed project workflows. 
  6. Undertake QA reviews of Revit models, drawings and associated design information prior to issue. 
  7. Coordinate model and drawing information through project Common Data Environments (CDEs). 
  8. Support Design Leads during multidisciplinary design coordination and BIM meetings. 
  9. Assist the Senior Designer with the development and implementation of STRI BIM standards, templates, Revit families and workflows. 
  10. Provide day-to-day BIM and Revit support to designers and technicians. 
  11. Undertake Revit modelling and drawing production where project requirements and workload allow. 
  12. Produce coordinated plans, sections, details, schedules and technical design information. 
  13. Support the modelling and coordination of specialist Field of Play systems including drainage, irrigation, undersoil heating, ventilation, monitoring and associated infrastructure.
  14. Support the continued development and improvement of BIM and digital design processes across the Design team. 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working within an engineering or multidisciplinary design environment, ideally from a: 

  • Civil Engineering; 
  • Mechanical Engineering; 
  • MEP / Building Services; 
  • Drainage, water or infrastructure; or 
  • Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy background. 

You should have: 

  • Strong practical Autodesk Revit experience. 
  • Experience within a BIM Coordinator, Revit Technician or similar BIM-focused role. 
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design information. 
  • Good understanding of drawings, pipework, drainage, levels, plant and utility interfaces. 
  • Experience working within BIM-led project environments. 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 19650 and BIM information management principles. 
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 or other Common Data Environments. 
  • Experience with Navisworks and clash detection/model coordination. 
  • Strong understanding of technical drawing production and model QA. 
  • Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills. 
  • Confidence coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors and other members of multidisciplinary project teams. 
  • Ability to work across multiple projects while remaining actively involved in model and drawing production. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D would be advantageous. 
  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent professional experience in BIM, Civil, Mechanical, Building Services, Infrastructure or another relevant engineering discipline would be advantageous. 

 

SPECIALIST SPORTS EXPERIENCE: 

Previous experience in sports-surface or Field of Play design is desirable but not essential. 

STRI’s specialist consultants and Design Leads will provide the technical and agronomic expertise associated with sports surfaces. The BIM Coordinator will support the integration and coordination of this specialist information within the wider BIM environment. 

Training will be provided in specialist Field of Play systems including sports pitch drainage, irrigation, undersoil heating, ventilation, monitoring and associated infrastructure.

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum dependant on experience
